29% admit to storing their passwords in notes on their phone, 33% written in a person journal.

69% of Finance workers choose work passwords that are easy to remember and 18% reset passwords every day.


The good news is that Finance has better password hygiene than other industries, but there is still substantial room for improvement.

Perception doesn’t match reality in Finance

Despite having tighter security protocols and more training, workers still don’t feel their employers are taking data privacy as seriously as they should.

Over half of Finance workers feel that their employer should take data privacy more seriously than they currently do. More than a third of finance workers feel as if they have not been adequately trained to protect company data.


This is despite 53% of employees receiving monthly security awareness training and 61% of employees seeing a security policy each time they login to their computer.

Financial workers have a healthy fear of data breaches

Workers in Finance feel a strong sense of responsibility when it comes to securing company and client data.

74% of Finance workers believe they will get fired for a data breach and 68% believes their execs should be fired for breaches. These figures are much higher than other regulated industries.
